Cake for Breakfast – Birthday Weekend Recap

Happy Monday friends! I’m a little late on this but wanted to share my birthday recap since Colin and I had such a great weekend at home celebrating. I’m hoping we can inspire others to have fun quarantine/social distancing style celebrations as well!

In true birthday fashion, I took the day off to try to relax, enjoy the day at home, and of course, eat cake for breakfast!

I started my day off with a long list of things I wanted to accomplish, but ended up spending most of the day resting – I think I just needed some time to relax.

Around 10am, I opened the door to the most beautiful floral arrangement from my most favorite person – thank you Colin, I love you! He always knows how to put a smile on my face.

In addition to the beautiful flowers, Colin found so many ways to make me feel special all weekend while staying home to celebrate. We did a little decorating, made a fun little flower arrangement, some yummy cocktails and cooked an amazing little dinner Saturday night! Oh, and did I mention Colin even shucked some fresh oysters. Keep scrolling to see a little recap!

We ordered fresh oysters from Central Market and Colin shucked them like a pro. We also picked up lobster tails, steak and veggies for dinner. Sorry, no pics… we were too hungry!

We decorated the dining room with a few small decorations so that our house was still festive and cute for weekend (and for the pics if I’m being real honest with you). I’ve linked some of the decor items below.

This GORGEOUS cake was made by Cakes by Tayte. She did such an amazing job! It was so beautiful and absolutely delicious. We went with a lemon raspberry flavor and loved it! I 100% recommend checking out her cakes if you live in DFW, you won’t regret it.

Blog post coming soon on this fun little pineapple vase pictured above. It was so fun to create and we made something super yummy with the all the pineapple – y’all get two guesses!

Overall we had such an amazing weekend with visits from friends and family dropping off flowers, gifts and yummy sweets.

My birthday finished out with a SURPRISE zoom call with some of my best friends (thank you Taylor and Meg – LOVE you guys!!), FaceTime and gift opening with my family and then takeout sushi for dinner!
