Not only is it beautiful in colour and makes for the most sip worthy cocktail but it also tastes great! We so loved our beautiful cocktail and can’t wait to try out some more fun recipes.

About Empress 1908 Gin

Empress 1908 Gin is a hand-craft spirit, micro-distilled in small batches by Victoria Distillers in British Columbia, Canada. Y’all know I’m here for my Canadian companies – I was so excited to learn this when they reached out about collaborating.

The gin is inspired by the renowned tea and cocktail program of the iconic Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria (a must visit on my travel bucket list!).

It is distilled in small batch copper-pots stills using eight botanicals: juniper, rose, coriander seed, grapefruit peel, ginger root, cinnamon bark, butterfly pea blossoms and the Fairmont Empress Blend Tea.

The beautiful indigo colour comes from the butterfly pea blossoms. I was blown away to see the colour change with the addition of the citrus. Apparently, with the addition of the citrus and tonic, Empress 1908 transforms from the vivid indigo blue colour seen in the bottle to a delicate soft pink. Alright, without further adieu, let’s get into it!

Cocktail Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Empress 1980 Gin
  • 3/4 oz of simple syrup
  • 3/4 oz of lemon juice (about 3/4 the juice from one medium lemon)
  • 2-3oz of champagne or sparkling wine to top the glass

For garnish:

  • Sugar to rim the edge of the glass – you can skip this step, I just love how pretty a sugar rimmed champagne flute looks.
  • 2 lemon peel twistsPerfect Indigo French 75
